There are several ways money can be made from an app. It could be an e-commerce app, where you are selling something. That’s direct revenue.

Your app could be a game, where you are selling game tokens, like coins and keys for real money. Did you play Subway Surfers? Or your app could be hosting Ads from platforms like Facebook and Google, and they pay you based on how many people interact with ads inside your app.
